Saturday May 28 9 am Wildwood Kite Festival/Indoor Pool Swimming/History Museum with New York Mosaic.
Please print this itinerary out and take it with you.
If you don’t have a GPS device, please bring a copy of all directions.
We will meet at 9:00 at the George F. Boyer Wildwood History Museum, 3907 PA Ave, Wildwod, NJ 08260, 609-523-0277.
The cost is free.
Afterwards, we will walk to the Kite Festival, www.skyfestivals.com, which begins at the Wildwood Convention Center, West Rio Grande Ave Beach, Wildwood, NJ 08260 and extends about 5 blocks southward down the boardwalk. The kite festival is free. There are no beach fees/tags in Wildwood. There will be a: talking robot, large inflatable bounces, clowns, face painting, balloon sculpting, puppet theatre, sand sculpting, stilt walkers, craft vendors, kite boarding, kite buggying, kite surfing, kite exhibits and kites for sale. The kites sail up to 500' (50 stories for all of you NYers) to prerecorded music routines.
At the beginning of the season, it is too cold to swim in the ocean, so we will go to the indoor pool between 1-5 (after we finish at the kite festival). The cost of the indoor pool is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (60+) and children (less than 18). The indoor pool is located at: John Von Savage Memorial Pool, 8800 NJ Ave, Wildwood, NJ 08260, 609-522-0084.
After the pool, we will walk the very fun, long boardwalk and get dinner on the boardwalk (there are several Italian and seafood places-we will see which one we can get into or get takeout and eat on the beach). For those who have not been to Wildwood before, you can tour the lighthouse and gardens and take in some 3D, glow in the dark minigolf and skip the pool and/or kite festival and meet up with us later. There are pictures of Wildwood, the lighthouse, gardens and boardwalk from our 2 previous visits to look at on the website.
Come for as much of the day as you want. If you are coming for only part of the day, please let trip leader Ruth know when to expect you.
This is a kid friendly event. Pack water, a picnic lunch, sunscreen, swimsuit, aqua shoes and sunglasses.
